She was living in the Dominican Republic when Carole Becam started to work on a series of canvasses inspired by the contrasting influences of the island in the West Indies. She called it VOLCANIC. A passionate ode to the Earth, natural elements, to LIFE.
In her own light way, she presents her personal calligraphy based on Tainos art... As a tribute to a people who disappeared, defeated by the Conquistadors. A peace-loving, friendly people, whose origins can be found in the Amazonian forest.
On the island, she picked up the bright red which now shines on her canvasses. And she also started to show her work in the Haitian Art Gallery as well as in private collections in Santo Domingo.
